Sunday's planned trip was canceled due to the strong winds, but my 2 clients and I made it out there on Tuesday and had very good success. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with a half crawler, we worked a variety of areas and structures only to find 2 keeper eyes, and that was out of a small bay in 8 feet of water. After working these areas for some time, we made a move to a shallow (4 ft.) submerged point that had scattered rock humps on it and we had a field day, not only with the walleye, but with some dandy smallies. While anchoring off this one spot, we boated another 8 walleye, 7 good keepers until the smallies moved in and ended the walleye action. We sat there for some time vertical jigging these smallies and boated 15 or more, 9 of which were over 15 inches.
Special note, water temps were back down to 65.4 degrees compared to 82 just a week ago.
Back out in a few days, will keep you posted.
