decent weather has returned avg 70's though we could use some warmer
weather as water temps are still holding in the mid-high 60's with the nw winds and cooler nites.
mayflys had a short and not very heavy hatch and appear to be over but as water temps rise we could see a few sporatic hatches come and go but not enough to worry about.
walleye fishing has again remained very good and consistant with the deeper hump, point bite at 22-30' holding strong. minnows and jumbo leeches on rigs, bottom bouncers and death hooks with 1/2 crawler .
also with the sporatic hatches there were also fish in the grass, weeds, and on flats incl some slot and over fish. jigs and leeches and cranks.
it seemed at times moving a bit faster provocted a better bite.
plenty of eaters but lots of slot fish and over, phil spector and the usiaks boated fish 30"+ with danny.
muskys are showing up both on the rocks and in the best weed beds.
still on the slower side than we're used to this time of the season but mid week there was some good action with 15-25+ follows with lots of big follows and a few committing, evening worth pursuing but as the sun would set the activity level for the most part would diminish some showing the fish really want the sun and warmer water . when they do bite it's alot of nippers so have your hooks sharp and be alert, been quite a few fish on and off.
thurs nite a cooler front came in,clouds and n wind on fri really slowed things down, still the same this a.m. so it will take some nice hot sunny weather and things will pick up again.
there have been some BIG fish fish encounters off walleyes humps with fish 49-54"+ chasing and or grabbing walleyes coming up from 26-30' so it may be something to think about and consider especially when they aren't showing up shallow following cold fronts or cooler nites at least consider fishing and checking a bit deeper off the breaks.
blades putting up alot of follows but most catches coming on ripped cranks, minnow baits, jerkbaits, and rubber.
jimmy glass boated a 52,47,44,and 42 with mike and cal. the conuitts a 49,the usiaks a 49, mike a 48,danny a 47/2,
trout for the most part at 50-60' on spoons, the mepps wolfie and cleos have been good.phil spector c/r'd a super fat 39" 25" girth 30#er.
no one really targeting bass exclusivley this week but some mixed it up part days with walleyes and all caught some nice ones 16-19".they are now off the beds and moved out to rocky rock rubble shorelines ,points, and rocky reed combos.
we got some openings yet aug 29-0ct 3 for some great upcoming fishing so give us a call for availablity and pricing with some excellent specials going on in sept,it's a great time to be on the water with nice temps,no bugs, big fish and trophy time.
