The fishing is great up and down the coast... no doubt about that with great reports from every port, but if your looking for BIG trophy King Salmon, Sturgeon Bay is your best bet...In today's (7-18-09) tounament run out of Kewaunee the winning boat again ran over 25 miles north to Sturgeon Bay and weighed the heaviest cooler with an OVERWHELMING margin, just like we did in Algoma the last two years the challenge was run..... Both Kewaunnee and Algoma run or have run tournaments (timed with the best 10 fish to win) with usually about 50 to 75 boats participating...The far majority of the 1st place coolers have been caught in Sturgeon Bay...The Bank reef is the hands down leader in producing TROPHY fish including a World Line Class and the WI state record...And it's not just a few big fish, today it produced a 25 fish limit on the REEL ACTION in only a few short hours, and over 20 fish again in the afternoon...Sturgeon Bay catches more fish per hour and more fish per charter than any of it neighboring ports...We are lucky to have a the bank just 4 miles off-shore...We fish it every day and have for the past 15 seasons...Hope to see you on the water, we are living history on the lake... I'm confident that August will produce some outstanding Kings that will weigh in over 30 pounds...
