Just returned from my annual LOTW trip. Spent 10 days on the water. Fishing to say the least was VERY challenging this year. Weather great for fishing (not too hot and no biting flies but the skeeters were horrible in the evening). Weed growth great in areas and clarity of 3-5' kept us on our toes. Of course it rained but the winds of 15-35 were the real issue for almost all of the trip. The other issue was the water temps which pretty much averaged 66-68. Very cold for this time of year in July. Had action from some 75 muskies but only managed to boat 6 with the two largest at 46.5 and a 50.5. Lost several hooked including a much larger muskie on my last day estimated around the 52-53" class. Best baits were bucktails, minnow baits and surface lures. I will be posting soon my catch report for 2009 on the muskie tips page shortly.
Host camp Angle Outpost once again rolled out the red carpet for my partner and I as well as the entire FRV Club outing of 18. Cannot wait till 2010!
