New Lakemaster chip for TFF??

Has anyone been using the new 2009 Lakemaster chip for the TFF? I know crews were out there last fall doing the mapping/surveying...wondering how well they did? is it fairly accurate with most of the rock humps and hazards on it or is it not that great????

i have the map and it showed hazards that the hotspots map doesn't. depth was a little iffy though in some places and just couldn't find those dang cribs where it said they were.

When we were up camping two weekends ago there were 2 Navionics boats out doing mapping to the SE of fisherman's.. new map next year maybe?

I saw a boat out mapping when I was up last week - this was ~ 10 days ago, so I wouldn't be looking for that map/card any time soon.

TinyFisherman said he saw a couple big Boston Whalers doing survey work around his place a couple weeks ago, but he said they were just marked "Fishing Specialists" or something like that. Did you actually see Navionics markings on the boats? Maybe I can finally get a good map for my Humminbird next year. And they just released a new GPS antenna this year that delivers 1 meter accuracy. I'm salivating over the possibilities of using that combination, plus sideimaging to see the stumps and finer details of structure.

That is amazingly good news. I just read the official Humminbird press release, and the LakeMaster maps for Humminbird will even have two exclusive features: one allows you to set a "Lake Level Offset" that will adjust the depth contours to account for changes in the water level (how cool will that be on the TFF?), and the other will let you highlight a user-selected range of depths (so you could highlight channels or shallow areas, or a specific depth range where you're catching fish). One thing I really appreciate about Humminbird is that they've been sticking with the same hardware and making their improvements through software updates - my unit is now two years old, but I'm able to easily download upgrades (free) whenever they come out and keep its features up to date with the new ones.

Now if Navionics also adds the TFF, I'll have a choice to make. Sounds like I'll have to wait until next season either way, so hopefully I'll be able to compare them at a sport show this winter.

I have been trying to find out if any of the Lakemasters products work with Magellan. I have e-mailed them with no reply. Thanks

You can only use magellan software in magellan handheld gps units. The units themselves are great as far as accuracy, but their software SUCKS :) Definitely going a different route next time to a manufacturer that isn't so stingy with whose software is compatible.

Yeah, there were a pair of boston whalers out. There were Navionics logos on both, with larger "Fishing Specialists" stickers (or something similar).

I was using it last week while I was up. Pretty darn good on following the chanels as well as marking other structure including cribs...a little off on crib location. Was much better than the fishing hotspots map chip. I liked it.

I've been using the Lakemaster chip in my Lowrance since it was released earlier this summer. Depth and channel accuracy have been good so far. Not sure where/how you are seeing structure though. The only structure I've noticed on this chip are the marked boulder hazards. It's been the only disappointment I've had with the chip since moving from the Navanionics version which showed submergent/emergent vegetation, and stump fields. I'm curious to hear how you are seeing crib locations using this chip...
