Cool temps still hanging around the Tomahawk area. Water temps are 68 to 69 degree's.
Good crappie action in the morning hours fishing the stumps. Slip bobbers and small minnows catching nice fish. In the late afternoon work small spinners such as beetle spins or little joes along the deep side of the weeds. Lake Mohawksin just had another mayfly hatch. Lake Alice was the hot lake this week.
We have been catching nice bluegills this week in 9 feet of water and right down on the bottom. Leeches or leaf worms for bait and small slip bobbers.
Perch action is fair with most reports coming from the river system, anglers are finding them just of the channel breaks in 12 feet of water. Jigs and black 2 inch tails working very well or for livebait use half of a nightcrawler.
Smallies, once again some very nice bass this week with several over 20 inches registered. Z-Man chatterbaits, Boo Yah spinnerbaits and aglia spinners work these lures along the weed and wood edges in the morning hours. Mid day switch over to plastics (dark colors) and work the rock bars.
Walleye's, we did well fishing lake mohawksin this week, we found the walleye in 12 feet of water and wood related. A simple #2 hook with a split shot about 2 feet up from the hook tipped with a leech or crawler, we did find that the leeches caught the bigger walleye's. Good reports from Mohawksin, Willow flow, Cresent and Nokomis.
Pike, most fish are the typical summer fish, with sizes from 24 to 28 inches. Willow Leaf spinnerbaits or Mepps #4caught lots of pike. Fish the weed edges and you will catch plenty of them.
Muskie action remains strong this week with a 45 inch beauty topping the charts. Bucktails still hot with Baby Girls the top producer along with the Mikalas Tail. Guide Ken Mack and his clients had a great day Monday on lake Alice, they boated 3 muskies from 38 to 45 inches. Hellhounds and Bucktails!
Good Luck
