Today's 1/2 day trip was with a couple of great guys from the Iron Mt. area. Bob and his buddy came over last night so we could get a nice early start on the water. We left the Gladstone harbor shortly after 6 a.m. and headed for the weeds to pitch some jigs. Unfortunately the back side of the cold front was just passing through and we had a pretty strong west/northwest wind, making it very hard to stay on our spot. We did manage to catch some fish pitching 1/4 oz. jigs and 1/2 crawlers, but only two of them were keepers. We then made a move north and got out the harnesses and boards. We only had time to fish two spots up north, but we caught some fish in both locations. Lots of short fish today, and only 8 keepers for the guys to take home, however we did have several nice fish come un-buttoned. A couple of northerns and some sheepshead kept us busy too. Not the greatest day on the water by far, but it seemed that the bite was picking up as the water was warming up just before we had to head in. Hopefully tomorrow will prove to be better with a nice south wind predicted. Walleyes Choice harnesses in I-62, I-42 and purple were the best colors today. Here's our fish from this morning, good luck from all of us in the Bay de Noc area.
