Same Report....Different Day, Different Week!
Seems like we get a couple days of stable weather and the bite starts to improve and then we get hit with north winds, rain,, roller coaster barometric pressures, many front passages, and unseasonably cool air temps.
Lake Conditions: Water surface temps 66 to 68 degrees, Water Clearity...constant north winds have kept the lake bottom churned up thus visibility less that 2 feet on south side of lake....algae bloom continues of eastern side. Cleanest water can be found to be on west and north side of lake.
Pre fished with brother in law Dave R of Joliet, Il on Sunday and found conditions to be slow...all fish were caught on a 5" grub/darter head jig. Dave caught a nice 3 pound 14 oz, 19 incher. Fish didnt seem real active and willing to chase a bait.
Yesterday Monday 8/3 shared the boat with Myron M. and Jeff S. with Rob E. in a trail boat all of Fort Smith Ark, (all accomplished anglers who wouldn't give up considerating the tought conditions) Fought stiff north and west winds all day. They caught and released about 15-20 fish...biggest of the day was a 5 pound 3 oz 20 incher (PB), also caught several fish in the 3 to 4 pound range, a bonus 22 inch slot walleye was caught and released....first toothy critter for Myron. Majority of fish caught on tubes and a few on crankbaits. Again conditions were tough, fish not real aggressive. In order to be successful the bait had to be fished slow and deliberate at the based of the structure. Bite seemed to improve latter in the day once the sun came out and began warming the water.
Rained last night and today more north winds....same old story!
