Great muskie action in the Eagle River area (one group boated five muskies
in one day). Fish 3 to 8 feet of water over weeds and wood.. Use a small
bucktail, topwater, crankbait, or jerk bait. Most everything is working,
with topwaters doing best. Best bite is in the early morning and late
evening. Size varies, with lots of action from 34 to 38 inch fish, and a
trophy here-and-there.
The walleye bite in the Eagle River area is providing good to excellent
action. Fish outside of weed edges down to the main lake mud-flats in 30
feet of water. Target the area just at the break edge from weeds to the
mud-flats. Use a jig and a minnow, leech or half a crawler. Mixed bag on
sizes, with the bite doing well throughout the day, and peaking in the early
morning and late evening hours.
Panfish in the Eagle River area continue to hang together in 15 feet of
water or less, in and around the weeds. Perch will hug the bottom, with
crappies and bluegills suspending up and down the water column. Use a
crappie minnow or chunk of crawler under a slip bobber, or try a Mini Mite.
Good to excellent action for all species, with the usual need to do some
sorting.
Northern are locating in the weeds in ten feet of water or less in the Eagle
River area. Action is decent. Bass style spinner baits are working best.
All day bite.
Smallmouth bass in the Eagle River area are putting on a good bite. Fish
ten to twenty feet of water on break edges. Use a three to four inch tube,
or four inch Senko, rigged wacky.
Largemouth action is good in the Eagle River area. Fish ten feet of water
or less in and around weeds, with the largemouth holding close to structure
(wood, docks, etc.). Use a Scum Frog, Heddon Torpedo, or Texas rig, with a
plastic worm or lizard.
