It was another week of fine summer like weather with air temperatures in the mid 70's and night time lows in the 50's. The near perfect weather has actually warmed Kakagi (Crow) Lake to slightly over 70 degrees with Lake of the Woods running about the same.

This week the Lake Trout moved around a bit making them hard to find in some of the best spots the previous week - Some Trout coming from the 90' waters, others on the underwater walls at 118' and a few in the 110' big holes. Both trolling and jigging methods are working and not much better in life then catching a few Lake Trout on these perfect weather days.

Walleye action on Cedartree and LOTW was solid for jigging and slow trolling groups. A few Walleye in the 5 pound range, but most seem to be the good eating fish recently. Expect we should see a few more bigger ones getting aggressive as the lakes start to cool and trigger the fall feed.

Northern Pike action from Whitefish Bay LOTW continues to be fast and furious with a couple mid 30" sized Pike found. Pretty easy to find 20-50 Northern Pike in a day - spinnerbaits, spoons and crankbaits will do the trick.

Crappie action seems to have come to a sudden stall. The locals are thinking the Crappie were perhaps pushed back out with the warming of the water temperature. It will be a few weeks before most of our Crappie anglers are back in, so hoping the lakes will cool off enough to get the Crappie action going again.

No one after Muskies this week and no accidental Muskies either. If your looking for them, they are likely not to far from their summer locations.

Everyone in has had a great time this week, enjoying the weather and many smiles about fishing with family or friend.

Also wanted to add - we had swimmers at the beach late last week and I was not included this time! When Kakagi is 70 degrees it is like a giant swimming pool - refreshing and you come out feeling clean, not like a usual lake.
