Fishing has been good up on St Clair. weeds are a problem, but not as bad as most Septembers. Labor day weekend(4 days), I put 23 fish over 30" in the boat. I've been running some of new plastic Tuff Shads and they have been catching fish. I got a 50" on a new special perch Tuff Shad on Monday.
This past weekend(11th-13th), I got 6 fish with 48" the largest, most of them on new Tuff Shads. I fished with Tim Graber and his son Nick on Sat. we went 10 for 14. Tim got a 50"er on a Stalker, so he tied me for Sept lunker of the month, but that only lasted for an hour. Nick landed a 51.5"er on a St Clair Hound bucktail(Skunk color). We had 5 fish over 47" that day, 3 on new Tuff Shads.
John Dennis from Akron-Canton chapter has caught fish of 54"(Tuff Shad), 52.5" and 53" on Muskie Train MX6's. Muskie Guys website has the pictures if you want to see these beasts.
Looks like fishing will continue to be good as long the weather holds.
