Our wonderful summer-like weather of late is finally changing, bit of a cool down and some rain today with cooler air temps predicted the next couple days should bring about decent fishing for most all species. We needed a change in weather patterns, this has been the longest spell of steady weather all summer... in Septenber, go figure. Water temps have been steady in the high 60's on the ER Chain. We should see water temps drop a bit with the rain and cooler weather moving in.

A real mix of baits including live suckers has been producing muskie action throughout the area. From surface baits to glide baits to bucktails... everything has been getting at least a look from fish lately. As mentioned, live suckers are also working, it's that time of year. Get the live bait rigs ready, the shorter, older fiberglass rods work well for this method of muskie fishing. As the weather gets colder graphit rods can become brittle and the vicious hookset live bait rigs require may snap rod tips... it's happened to me. Fiberglass rods stay supple in cold weather, just remember to give it a good heave when setting a quickstrike rig, fiberglass has a lot more "give" than graphite. Muskies seem to be scattered throughout the water column, a lot of my fish have been found lately in the 3-5 foot weeds as well as along the normal 7-8 foot weed edges.
