With water temperatures hovering in the low 70's and cooler weather coming, we should start to see some fall patterns emerging. At present, Walleyes on Mendota have been somewhat active in 20-28' of water. Crawlers and leeches have still been the bait of choice, with leeches becoming more difficult to come by. When the water starts to cool, look for Walleyes to start taking minnows. Try looking off of Gov. Island, Second Point, and County Park. Lake Monona Bluegill action continues to be good. Action is in 12-25' of water. Watch for the fish to be anywhere from 10' down to the bottom. Some Musky action has been reported on large Bucktails like the Cowgirls & Big Joe's. Lake Waubesa Bluegills and some Crappies and some Perch have been reported in 9-18' of water out from Hog Island, down by Christies, and out in front of the Beach House restaurant. Watch for Walleyes to start getting active by the railroad tressel, Rockford Heights, and in front of Babcock Park. Lake Kegonsa has been producing some large Bluegills and Perch in 7-10' of water outside the weeds.
