Our very cold October weather has water temps falling into the mid to lower 50's on the lakes I've been fishing. Fall colors are peaking and we've even had a little snow over the weekend.
Musky fishing has been good. So far this month there's been a few multi fish days, a few one fish days, and a few no fish days. Muskys are hitting suckers, gliders, twitchbaits and soft plastics about equally well. Weeds and rocks are the prime spots. Fishing should continue to be good as October rolls on.
I haven't done any walleye fishing this month, I'd expect to find more fish relating to rocks now. Jigs and walleye suckers in about 14 to 20 feet should do the trick.
Good luck and good fishing,
Jim Stroede
