As I suspected, we woke up to find the bay frozen over. Would expect the rest to go tonight.

Go to the Flag Island Webcam: www.yahooey.com
Click on the tower link, and look at Brush Island. You'll be shocked just how much ice is out there.

Oh yeh,you got hard coming.Just checked your 7 day,sub zero hard. What are the pre freeze water levels?
I ask cause we have record highs here and,as I suspected,we appear to be having a weird, dangerous 'freeze up'.Open water spots in neck downs etc.
Treacherous winter on the ice here-especially since we have some snow on it already.

Done deal......
The water level is about as average for this time of year as it can be.
Here's the weekly WCB statement:
The current level of Lake of the Woods is 322.81 m (1059.1 ft), a 45th percentile level for this time of year. The lake level was stable over the past week but is expected to decline 1-2 cm (1 in) over the next week. Lake of the Woods authorized outflow will be increased from 410 m³/s to 500 m³/s on Friday, December 4th, with the completion of maintenance & upgrade work that has been proceeding at the Norman powerhouse over the past several weeks.

Looks pretty white over most of the lake.

So judgeing by that map it looks like open water in front of Astron and north and east of there. Wow I know that water stays a little warmer but with that cold you got I can't believe its still open:confused:

Got this photo from Al Smith up in Kenora, who took his last boat ride for the season yesterday. Seem like about a two week difference from the Oak area, to up there. On both ends of the season. We have been sledding, and they still have boats in the water, and visa-versa.

Yeah, and I would think depth as well. In the late fall, the Sunset Channel area is typically 4-5 degrees warmer than down here. Would assume the same for Bigstone Bay.

What a difference a few days make.
