Is there a difference between Trolling Rods and Downrigger Rods? Or are they the same thing? They would be used for musky.

There can be a big difference. It just depends on your style of trolling I guess. In a 6-8 rod trolling spread, you could have 7-8-footers mixed in with 9-12 ft. Dipsey/Rigger rods.

I wouldn't buy dipsey or downrigger rods unless you have a special need like Red mentioned or you are actually going to use them on a downrigger.
I know the price is very attractive when you compare the two.
The glass/graphite combo trolling rods are worth the money in the end.

If you can find any Old St.Croix Pro-Glass Med-Hvy 8' Downrigger Rods or 10' Dipsey Rods, they are very good! They quit making them about 10 years ago.Sometimes they do come up for sale on eBay & Craig's List.Ugly Stick Downrigger Rods are also made of glass composite and are very tough.
