Monday we got an additional 3 to 4 inches of snow depending where you were. Luckily it stayed cold and the snow was light, not the heavy wet stuff.
The ice is growing, most places have at least 3 inches with some as much as 6 inches. It is supposed to remain cold at nights and in the mid to low twenties during the day.
The walleyes are biting well on tip ups, using medium shiners and med. sucker minnows in 3 to 7 feet of water. There is some northern action too, the best bait seems to be a large shiner. They are getting a few northerns on jigging spoons tipped with a crappie minnow.
There is some panfish action, mainly perch in 3 to 6 feet, but again there are not many anglers targeting them at this time. They are getting them on small teardrop jigs with wax worms.
This weekend they are predicting partly sunny with temperatures in the mid twenties and light winds. It looks like it will be a great ice fishing opportunity for those anglers looking to get out.
Good Luck, and don't forget about our toll free fishing infomation line if you away from your computer at 1-866-367-2248.
