First I want to thank the Bait Shop guy for letting me pick his brain today about catching whitefish. If anyone has any tips on catching these good eating fish I'd like to hear about them. I'm from over here in Big Bay De Noc area on the tip of the Garden peninsula.

I live on the St. Mary's River and here I like to tie a medium size swedish pimple to my line for flash and weight, then put on a ant swivel, then a 12" to 14" piece of trilene 6 lb. test line tied to a real small teardrop and tip with a wax worm or wiggler. When your fishing it, lift your rod up about two feet and then let it free fall back to the bottom just until your bait is on the bottom. Also try pounding the silt on the bottom once in a while to simulate wigglers or larva.
