Snow cover is going fast and lots of rain has made the lakes very sloppy. Anywhere from 4 to 12 inches of water sits on the ice around the area. Some lakes have lost up to 6" inches of ice in the last couple of days.

Although some are driving trucks around, I wouldn't recommend using a vehicle. ATV's are the only sensible way(and on foot) to get around on the ice. Wear knee high rubber boots and the use of creepers wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Crappies, bluegills, and perch are all biting in spurts around the area. Minnows, waxies, and of course wigglers are producing. Bros Bugs, Marmuskas, Mud Bugs are my favorite jigs right now. The key is to search the area that you are fishing and move frequently from hole to hole.

Once we get some sun, I believe the ice will start to crack and split, allowing for the water to seep thru and cause the ice to lift. Once that happens, the ice conditions will be awesome for ATV and foot travel and it'll be game on!

Good Luck!
