Wow,
Things are getting bad fast, We have about six inches of standing water on top of the ice. Travel is getting tough. Fish are being caught but this lake is changing by the hour. Be careful use caution you can still get out there right now but things could change in the next couple days. Water is running down the holes and could create weak areas in the ice. The annual late ice perch tournament has been canceled. Forecast is for more warm weather. Call ahead.

I was planning on coming up next weekend with some other guys to fish? Seems like I should stay home. What do you think?

Right now we have 16 to 18 inches of ice. By Saturday evening a lot of the water that was sitting on top of the ice has soaked through or ran down the holes. The top layer of ice is getting soft and the bottom layer is good clear ice. so far the shore line is holding up but I have not been around the lake to check out all the landings.
My best advice would be to call and check on the ice conditions before you leave.

Fishing in the area where we were yesterday was very slow.

The guys that are catching fish, are they getting them on wigglers? Does time of day seem to matter?

The people that I have personally talked with are getting them on both wax worms and wigglers.
The wigglers with no movement just sitting still and maybe the wiggler moving it's legs.
The guys that are using the wax worms are using a pretty good jigging action.

I have heard it all. At first light, during the middle of the day, late afternoon.
The folks that were fishing out of our resort this past week-end said they did good in the early morning one day, and then they did good on another day when the sun came out during the middle of the day. Does not seem to be a pattern that is consistent day after day
