As I fished the walleye / pike closer this year, I thought alot about this past winter ice fishing....about how many hours I spent on the ice, about how non-productive ice fishing is compared to NORMAL fishing. I had alot of fun, but caught very few fish.
This weekend was different. It only took us 5 seconds after getting the last line in the water to land a nice 30 inch northern. The two of us ended up with 3 nice pike this weekend, fishing a couple hours each day. Fish ranged from 28 to 35 inches.
The best part of this story....we caught them on hot n tots and reef runners. My feet were on carpet, not ice. The poles were 9 feet, not 2 feet.
