The lakes up here are looking quite black to some small lakes already open. I expect that after this week, they are calling for 70's, that many of our lakes will be open. Then it is time to let the games begin!! It has been quite a few years since the ice went out this soon. As the water warms the annual migration shallow of the fish begin. I will not be able to get out around Rhinelander this weekend but I am going to be on the water. I am headed to my parents for Easter which happens to be located on the Mississippi River on Lake Pepin. I am taking my boat and plan to chase some walleyes and saugers. When I return I will venture out around Rhinelander and keep you posted as to conditions.
Happy Easter Weekend to all and Good Fishing,

Thanks, I just looked Yesterday and it looks like the river crested a few days ago and is actually starting to drop. I am sure the current will be cranking but the temps are rising so I think if I can find some good current seams I will find the fish. I will post next week on how I did.

Well the current was indeed strong. But the water was slowly coming down. The big problem was when you came into some less current areas the other boats were there to. There was alot of boats on the water, some I am sure due to Easter weekend. I was able to catch some fish this time. Most were in the 17-19" range. I did witness a couple nice fish being caught. I saw a 27" and a 28-30" fish caught. Both were released. I think that the walleyes, at least some of the fish were done spawning already there. I caught several white Bass, and some nice ones, which are typically right on the heals of the walleyes duing the spawning season. Overall it was a good trip. Good weather, caught a good bunch of good eater fish, and ran into no difficulties. Those are the trips I like.
