Made the first trip of the year out on the water last night. My dad and I started trolling around the Escanaba light house, where we caught one big walleye that was already spawned out. Then we moved to the mouth of the Escanaba River where we lost one other fish. Water temps were 46 in the harbor, 41 to 45 around the light house, and 45 to 50 near the river mouth.

Bait shop guy,
Have any perch fisherman been going out and having luck? I will try to get out later in the week and will post results.
Thanks

I have not seen a single person that has said they were fishing in the bay, yet. Sort of surprising since guys were doing good at last ice just north of the narrows a few weeks ago. Most all of the perch jerkers we've seen so far are heading over to Indian Lake. They're fishing shallow water over there, (less than 5 feet,) so it might be well worth checking around around Butler's Island or Masonville.
Let us know how you do.
