Ahead of a weather system that was set to move through the area later in the day and over the weekend, a beautiful morning addressed us on Friday, April 23rd. Without even a hit to speak during the first hour of fishing atop calm waters, we worked at 'em at different (shallow) depths and different latitudes until we located fish and observed a pattern that eventually emerged. By 10am we had Coho number 14 in the box and were on our toes for limit fish number 15 which arrived around 10.40 after a few swings and misses in between.
This was trip number 4 on the water in the very early stages of this new season. 3 of these 4 trips have now witnessed us taking limit catches with the only exception being an experience of a very strange day of fish after fish escaping.
As the doorstep of May approaches and prime time for Coho, some availability on weekends remain with a little more access on weekdays. Please don't hesitate to call or email to check on a day to come experience what's shaping up to be a really good Coho Salmon run for 2010.
