East winds blew in some much colder water and really effected the fish our first day Wednesday, so we struggled Wed. afternoon and had a new attitude for Thurs. We left the dock at 5:45 AM and hammered the walleye on turtle reef, using purple hair jigs, tipped with shiners. When fronts move thru in April we find that tipping the jig with shiners really helps, when walleye are sluggish. Friday we left at 5:50 AM and also fished samre spots and limited with 32 walleyes each day. Most walleyes were 18 - 27 inches and very healthy.
