Had a nice group of folks from Wild Eagle Lodge Walleye School join the RFRG team for todays opening of the gamefish season. To say conditions were challenging would be an understatement. The partly sunny and warm part was fine but the wind was howlin' ! Tough to find fishable spots and even then we were fighting the wind all day. Switched to 1/8 oz. jigs just to be able to keep them down in relatively shallow water. Only a couple walleye caught and a few hooked but got off at boatside. No crappie to be seen even though they had been quite active just in the past few days. A few northerns, perch, and even a couple undersized musky were caught. Overall a very tough bite. Checking other anglers on the lakes found virtually everyone else having the same experience.
Day two on Sunday and I'm sure we'll have a full report during RFRG Outdoor radio and interviews with the participants. A little less wind on Sunday would be appreciated.
