Opening weekend had mixed results. A few Walleyes were caught on Lake Mendota and also Lake Waubesa. Babcock Park on Waubesa proved to be the most productive area, with some Walleyes also being caught up by the railroad tressel. During the day some success has been occurring trolling crawler harnesses and bottom bouncers in 20-30' of water. Largemouth Bass were reported to be very active on Lake Monona in 0-3' of water. Northern Pike were taking crank baits trolled in 8-15' of water on Lake Mendota. We really did not receive any Musky reports from the opener. With water temperatures in the mid to upper 50's, Crappie and Bluegill action has been picking up in 5-7' of water on all of the lakes. Lake Monona has been having good action in Turville and Squaw Bays, also some of the shore fishermen have been having success off of the Monona Terrace and in Monona Bay. On Lake Waubesa at Lake Farm Park and north of the Green Lantern and also down by Christies there has been Bluegill and Crappie action. Crystal Lake has been giving up some Bluegill and Crappies to shore anglers recently. There has been a little bit of Catfish action on Cherokee Lake.
