NOTICE OF AVAILABILITY - MICHIGAN: The U.S. Department of Agriculture,
Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service, Wildlife Services program,
and the USDI, Fish and Wildlife Service and National Park Service have
prepared a new Environmental Assessment (EA) entitled, “Reducing
Double-Crested Cormorant Damage in Michigan.” The EA was prepared
in
consultation with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources and
Environment, the Chippewa-Ottawa Resource Authority, Little Traverse
Bay
Bands of Odawa Indians, Grand Traverse Band of Odawa and Chippewa
Indians, the Bay Mills Indian Community and the Sault Ste. Marie Tribe
of Chippewa Indians. The EA analyzes the potential environmental
effects of alternatives for responding to increased requests for
cormorant damage management in Michigan. Once completed, this EA will
replace an analysis completed in 2004 and supplemented in 2006. The
EA
is available for review and comment prior to issuing a decision on the
alternative to be selected and its associated environmental impacts.
