Friday greeted my 2 clients and I to much needed cool down and a good ESE wind that made fishing a real pleasure. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with fatheads, we started out vertical jigging a couple of cribs and found nothing. We then moved on to deeper water and tried the submerged stumps and laid down timber and once again found nothing. We then made a move to the shallow stump filled humps and found gold. Working one 5 foot deep hump and a small section of a real stumpy shoreline, we had our 9 hefty eyes in just a short time. Also on this shoreline, I hooked into a good 40 pound snapper that was snagged in the foot, managed to get it to the boat where I finally got the hook out and let it go. After our last walleye was caught, we headed out for some smallies and we found plenty of them on the shallow rocks, we boated 13 footballs on both fatheads and GULP.
