The warm weather and light winds early this past week created a little challenge, even for out more experienced fishing groups.... in the end looks like everyone is finding them now. Kakagi (Crow) Lake is running in the mid to upper 50's at the surface and Lake of the Woods was even touching 70 degree waters in some of the shallow stained bays.
Lake Trout were a tough bite most of the week but jigging and bank fishing are starting to starting to come around again. Most of the Lake Trout are in 35-80 waters.... some suspended and some near the bottom. We are seeing a lot of chasing Lake Trout on the depth finders while jigging... just more difficult then usual to get them to take the lures early in the week. Biggest Lake Trout of the week was 11 pounds.
Walleye action seemed to improve over the past weekend. The biggest Walleyes are being lost at the boat, while the eating sized Walleyes are finding their way into the landing nets.
Northern Pike action didn't slow down during the warm sunny days with light winds. The weed growth on Lake of the Woods have been very successful for Northern Pike this week.
Perch on Lake of the Woods are being caught by groups after Walleye and Crappie action.
The Crappies were hard to find early in the week, but some very nice 14-15" Crappies started moving into the shallower waters on Saturday.
Bass and Muskies... still not seeing them shallow or spawning with any frequency yet. I looked around in Bladder Bay and only saw one bass and no muskies shallow. We have several groups hoping the water doesn't warm too fast and trigger an early spawn... looks ok so far.
On a side note - I encountered some PC issues and have not had access to e-mail this weekend... looks like it should be repaired tomorrow.
Regards,
