Just curious about the lake/river temps in the rest of the state?

The Kinzua outflow temp is around 53 and immediately South of Warren should be around 58-59 by the weekend.

East Branch was 51-52 on sunday.

Bass not spawning yet, this weekend should be fun. Talking a muskie break and getting some action for the family. I'm sure I'll sneak some toothy fishing in the early AM hours.

I've been seeing low to mid-60's on the waters that I've been on over the last week or so.

When you check water temps, how far down should you check, the bottom ?

I have the same question as RRR. When guys are reporting temps are they reporting surface temps or the temp below the surface and if, how far down?

The Yough varies from 55 - 62 depending on how far down stream. Where I fish it's about 60 degrees today going by rivergages. They update about every 4 hours in Connellsville, PA

My temps (as most guys) are being read by the transducer which is probably 9-20 inches below the surface (off plane). Once you get a semi-accurate surface temp, you can find graphs that will give you a fairly close estimation on the temps as you go deeper in the column. Using a temperature probe (or making changes to your graph) to determine the thermocline depth can be crucial in finding 'esox suspendus' during the summer.

Unless my Lowrance is playing tricks on me, the surface water temps at Tamarack were 77-78 Wednesday 5/26/2010. That was at 7:30pm. I don't think I've seen water temps that high this early?

The GF and I had some free time and decided to fish a nearby lake in Butler Co. The water temp was at 81 At 6:00 pm Thur. We limited out on bows, 1 LM bass, and 2 gills. And I kept saying its to warm for trout !
