Went up and fished the trout and salmon tournament over the weekend. We ended up taking 5th place out of 25 boats. We had a total weight of 106 lbs of fish for the 2 days. Out of the 10 fish we weighed our biggest was 16.5 lbs. 1st place had 144 lbs. Biggest fish for the weekend was a 26.5 lb. laker. We went out about 22 miles to the big reef in about 112-117 ft. of water. Rickity Rick, Greasy Chicken and Yellowtail were the good colors 4 us. Couldn`t see much on sat. because it was foggy all day so we couldn`t see where anyone else was. On sunday when we got to our spot the boat that caught 80 lbs on sat. was fishing right on our way points from sat. Guess we were in the right spot. We had never fished Grande Marais before. We just marked a spot off of a map, punched it in and went there in the morning. I thought we did pretty good for the first time being there. Can`t wait till next year. Top place was $4,000.
