Hello Everyone, this is Cathy from Aquatic Arts Fishing Pro Shop right here in Tomahawk. Once again this past week of fishing brought some nice catches in, including a 48" muskie and 22 1/2inch largemouth bass caught by local anglers. All in all the fish seem to be responding well to the fluctuating weather patterns. We have been finding the bluegills in about 2-5 ft of water. Our best luck has been right near stumps and weedbeds. Use small leeches, leaf worms, or baby crawlers on a light wire hook beneath a bobber. If you prefer using artificial baits, try Berkley Power Nymphs on a 1/64- 1/32 oz jighead or any type of Gulp Alive maggot or waxworm. These artificial baits come in a variety of colors, work great, and tend to outlast live bait. The walleye bite has picked up out here on the area river systems, with leeches being their choice meals. Jig a leech on a 1/8 to 1/4 oz jig, fishing near weedbeds, underwater structure like stumps and rocks, or near railroad trestles. Fish 4-8ft of water. If you are a little squemish to touch leeches, which many people are, there is a great alternative. Berkley's Gulp Alive leeches come in 3 different sizes,4 different colors, and sometimes work even BETTER than live leeches, so give it a try!! Jumbo Perch have been being caught here in the area as well, some up to 14 inches. If your area lake has any islands with surrounding weedbeds, these areas have been hot. Try casting size 1 Mepps Spinners around the weeds for some nice sized Perch. If your lake has no islands, fish in or around weed beds, 2-5 ft of water with a small leech, fathead, or baby crawler. Lindy No Snagg Jigs size 1/16 to 1/8oz have been hot. The Bass bite has been great on most all bodies of water. Rubber Worms like Senkos and Yum Dingers are still prevailing, but Spinnerbaits are becoming more and more effective as the water continues to warm up. Live bait has been working great as well, Extra Large Fatheads, Leeches, and Canadian Crawlers on a 1/8oz jighead have been producing some nice sized bass. Fish along Stump Fields and Lily pad patches, 3-6 ft of water. Well, thats all for today, this has been your weekly fishing update with Catch em Cathy.
