Water levels are returning to normal, there still is a lot of water flow in in the Chain. Walleye have been hitting well. Fishermen are finding them in the current areas of the lakes like the mouth of the rivers, any narrowing of the lake, and around the bridges and roadways. Most fishermen are using jig and leech combo but some are doing well on rigs and crawlers. Panfish are being found shallow feeding on all the food that was washed into the lakes. Waxies, worms and small plastics are working well for the panfish. Musky are chasing top water lures, prop baits like the Dreamcatcher Whiplash are at the top of the list for fish catching lures right now. Some big Northern have been comming off the chain. Reports of a lot of fish pushing the 30 inch mark and a good number of fish in the 32 to 38 inch range. Big spinner baits have been working well for the pike, Simms Tackle and the Slopmaster by Bucher have been the baits of choice.
Good luck on the water and enjoy the holiday weekend. If your in the area stop by Ross's Friday and Sat for some special prices on select Musky Lures, Rods and other fishing tackle. Also we will have Brats and Beer (while it lasts) for our customers Sunday right before and after the parade.
Attached is a picture of my 3 year old son with his first Walleye that we caught late last week.
