Lake Mendota surface temperatures are in the low-to-mid 80's. The perch bite continues to be hit or miss, with emphasis on the miss. However there have been reports of a few limits being caught recently. Try fishing in the weeds and along the weed lines on the west side of the lake as these are where the reports have originated. Small mouth bass continue to be uncharacteristically passive and out of normal cycles. For example, there have been reports of small mouth bass in 1'-3' of water along with sporadic weed line bites and a slow bite by deeper rocks on the bars. Typically the bass would be found on the rocks and more active, but this has not been the case. Shore fisherman at Tenny Park have been having some success with nice sized bluegills in the morning and a few bass throughout the day.
Lake Monona bluegill bite continues to be good, with active fish along the weed lines and out to 20' of water. Don't forget to check for bluegills suspending over deeper water as is typical for this time of year. Reports of success with muskies have been coming in, though it can be hit or miss. Large mouth bass fisherman have been having occasional success on the deep weed edges.
Lake Waubesa bluegill bite has been more difficult, however the catches have been, on average, larger than those of Monona. Try vertical fishing on outside weed lines or drifting from 12'-20' of water.
Lake Kegonsa perch and bluegills have been nice when caught, however the reports of them have been spotty.
