Hello Everyone, this is Cathy from Aquatic Arts Fishing Pro Shop right here in Tomahawk. Well, we need some solid weather patterns to get the bite rolling again. It seems like we only have about a 2-day window of good fishing each week before the new weather front swings in. Northern Pike have been very active irregargless of the weather patterns. Spinner baits , Bucktails, and Chatterbaits have been working great. Fish along weed edges in the mid-afternoon to late evening, 5-10ft of water. Live bait has been working for these toothy critters as well, try soaking a 7-10" Sucker Minnow on the weed edges or near drop offs. Bluegill fishing has been fair lately. The best action has been on Baby Crawlers and Small Leeches below a slip bobber. If you are sick of the same old same old fishing and want to try something new, give popper fishing a try. You don't even need a cane pole of fly fishing set up. Simply attach a small clip on bobber about 3 ft up from the popper on your line for some weight to cast with. This method has been very successul lately and is pretty much weedless as the popper floats on the surface. Cast over weed patches and lily pads, 3-6ft of water. Smallmouth bass have been suspended around the rock bars and weed edges here on the area river systems. The best luck has been on plastic worms like Berkley 7" Power worms, lightly weighted and slowly twitched . You are almost sure to get a hit before the worm even reaches the bottom. Nightcrawlers are proving successful using this same method of fishing. Largemouth Bass have been hiding in thicker weeds and in or around stumps, 6-10ft of water. Senkos hooked wacky style (through the middle of the worm) and Plastic Tubes rigged Texas Style(making them weedless) have been hot !Simply cast, twitch and reel for a nice fight!! Musky action has slowed a bit due to inconsistent weather patterns. Topwater lures like Bucher Topraiders and Poe's Jackpots have been great. Another Musky lure taking the fore front this year is the new Weagle by Suick. This is a topwater bait, like a Jackpot, but it has a fatter body and comes in a variety of different color patterns!! Three 40+ Muskies have been caught on these over the past couple of weeks. Well, thats all for today, this has been your weekly fishing update with catch 'em Cathy.
