The Marathon County Solid Waste Dept. is currently running a promotional\educational program to "Get the Lead Out". This program is promoting the utilization of non-lead fishing tackle that can be poisonous to waterfowl. The Solid Waste Dept. currently has a box of non-lead tackle at the landfill that they are willing to exchange for tackle with lead in it. They are also willing to provide informational flyers/posters at landings for those interested in helping to spread the word. The bottom line is trying to educate fishermen on the negative impacts of lead tackle and the fact that there are alternatives available.
