This means you gotta bring home the bacon! (or the salmon in this case)

Larry.. real good price on Cabela's Depthmaster II Linecounter reels right now too.. 29.95.. they are a good starter reel at a low cost and I havent had a problem with mine for 3 years now. Pretty happy with there performance. Not like we are chasing Salmon for 4 months here like further south. Dont really need a "stiff" rod for riggers either.. most guys lean to the flexable ones so they can get a good load on em. Dipsey rods are a different story.. need a good backbone for those.

Thanks for the help guy's. From what I'm hearing, it sounds like my planer board rods will work. Now I just need reels so I don't have to change line. I will need stiffer rods/reels for dypsies though. If I buy new I'm stuck with em, so we're going out with what we have tonight is the wind stay's down. If you see a 17.5 tan/green lund off Ford river try to herd em my way. If I don't find any I heard right where the walleye are down that way lol.

Larry... my plan for the AM... if the Salmon arent hungry.. then we search for the Eyes. IF .. the weather cooperates.
If your looking for a special rod for rigger fishing - there are lots of them! But you can use any casting rod or spinning rod with 15 to 20 lb. line. I use 6 ft. Ugly Stiks, Shimano TR2000 reels with 17 lb. line and they have done the job for many years.
