Another week of high temps made it tough to be on the water at times. Low winds (again??) added to the heat issue and saw lots of people coming in for midday breaks, even those that fish walleyes and normally stay out all day.

Walleyes were hitting pretty good in the heat. Sometimes deeper on the humps, and shallower on top. Minnows and leeches were the most common bait. Spinners and jigs again for tackle. Keep working reefs all the way to the bottom of the humps...those fish have been using all parts and depths of the reefs that last few seasons.

Muskie activitiy was a bit sporadic, but fish were showing themselves and being caught by our anglers throughout the week. I managed to sneak out Friday evening with father/son guests/friends Chris and Johnny and Chris got action from 3 different fish in one spot (a point with rock and grass that had some wind blowing into it), catching two. All on black/orange topwater. Fish caught were 36 and 33 inches, while the bigger one didnt get hooks of course.

The wind start to blow friday and hasnt quit yet!! A major cold front is hanging in the area as well so fishing has been tough as a result.

Warms up coming back for the weekend and the wind should calm down by wednesday. We were due for one of those after relatively calm winds for weeks and warm, mostly stable weather (with a few scattered storms thrown in.)

As far as anglers go, we are quieter this week for the first time since opening weekend. We'll have some non-fishing guests in for the weekend and then back to plenty of anglers around the following weeks in the lead up to the fall rush.

Hard to believe the summer is coming to a close. Wow, where does the time go?
