It's been a warm summer here, as it has been across most of the country. Surface water temps climbed to nearly 80 degrees recently, which is uncommon in these parts. We anxiously await September and hope cool winds and cool over night lows reduce that water temp to around 60 real soon. As of today...surface water temps remain around 70 degrees.
Algae in the lakes is beginning to die and can be seen floating on the surface on calm mornings. A ten degree drop in water temperature will bring positive changes to fish locations and fishing patterns. Early mornings and evenings continue to be the best time to catch Walleyes.
The Bluegill fishing has been real good in the warm water. Four Bluegills at 9 7/8 inches or ten inches, along with smaller ones, have been landed from our docks in the last week. Two of those were wrapped up and taken by guests for taxidermy. Bluegill fishing has been real good in other areas also.
Muskie anglers would also like to see the water temps cool off.
Just a reminder to you good folks out there who like a clean and quiet resort...Oak Haven is a 9PM to 9AM Quiet Time resort. This policy allows our guests to sleep with their windows open and get a good night's rest while vacationing. This is our year round home. We don't allow profanity. When you arrive here, you won't see cigarette butts on the ground. We are a No Littering Resort. (Smokers outposts are provided at every cabin) We enforce these policies to bring good people a clean, quiet and peaceful vacation.
Thanks to all of the Mom's and Dad's and Grandma's and Grandpa's who shower us with compliments about what a clean and peaceful resort we have. It's a GREAT place for kids. And I've got a lot of little Fishin' Buddies out there....boys and girls....who are coming back next year. Our advanced bookings for 2011 are outstanding. Our bookings have grown considerably for four years in a row.
Please call us soon to book your 2011 vacation.
