There are two great new swim baits that all muskie fishermen should take a serious look at for the upcoming fall season and 2011. Spro’s BBZ-1 Swim bait that was developed by Fishing Hall of Famer Inductee Bill Siemantel comes in both a 6” and 8” version with floating, slow sink and a fast sink model available.
There is nothing on the market that can compare to action, color and quality of the BBZ-1.
I have been using the BBZ-1 and catching muskies this season on the 6” version and cannot wait for the cooler water period this fall to see what the 8” version will do to the muskies in IL and WI. There are some great colors available with the Wicked Perch, Killer Carp and Hitch patterns being my favorites so far.
A good tip during the retrieve on these swim baits is to “quick jerk or tap” the baits. These slight actions will cause the bait to turn up to 180 degrees during the pause and will turn a follower into a striker.
