Big Chip Musky Hunt is under way this weekend
Two hundred anglers will enjoy fishing, camaraderie, food and prizes this Thursday through Saturday during the 12th annual catch-and-release Big Chip Musky Hunt hosted by the Lake Chippewa Flowage Resort Association.
Events began Wednesday with Skeeter Boat Center ride and drive demos from 3 to 5 p.m. at the Landing, followed by an electronics seminar. Fisherman’s camaraderie began at 6 p.m. Wednesday at The Landing.
Fishing will take place Thursday, Friday and Saturday. There will be a Klement’s Brat Feed at noon Thursday at Deer Run Resort, and an “Explore the Area” day on Friday, with a goody bag of incentives to visit area businesses. The awards picnic will be held at Treeland Resorts at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Thousands of dollars in prizes will be awarded to anglers, including the grand prize random drawing Saturday evening for a TC-3 Outback 425 ATV sponsored by Don Johnson Auto Group.
The prizes for the longest muskies released alive are: First place, $2,000 gift certificate; second, St. Croix Legend rod, Calcutta 400TE reel and gift certificate package valued at $1,000; third, St. Croix Legend rod and Ambassador Record reel; fourth, Calcutta 400TE Record reel; fifth through seventh places, Stow Master nets; eighth through 10th places, Ambassador 6500C reels; and 11th “No Place” prize, a St. Croix Legend rod.
