The 12" is cheaper than the 9". Just ordered 8 myself but they are on backorder.

I am hearing that this big sale might be a way to get rid of all the crappy Dawgs that were made overseas with "faulty rubber" a couple of years back. We all remember those pain in the arses......I guess the Mend-It will come in handy if that is the case.

I don't know what to think about Cabelas. They ran this exact sale a couple of weeks ago, but the color I wanted was out of stock by the time we called. They said they could put it on back order, but they didn't expect to have any in until the spring. Seems pretty odd that they would go from not expecting to have any for 6 months to having a bunch on sale. I checked earlier and the price went up. It's $12.74 for the 9" and $14.24 for the 12" now. Still cheaper than normal though.

On another note, I bought a 9" Heli-Dawg last year that was a complete waste of money. The wire that connects the blade to the harness snapped off, making it just an expensive Bull Dawg. That was only after a handful of casts. I used it as a Bull Dawg for awhile until the back hook foul-hooked my leader, which broke the harness in half.

That Heli-dawg must have been from the bad batch that so many of us purchased in 08 and 09.

Just got my 7.41 MagDawgs in today and the rubber appears to be fine. The old crappy batches were really slick and almost oily feeling.........these are dry and not nearly as soft as the bad ones were......I put a pretty good "stretch-armstrong" manuever on them with no ripping. Fingers are crossed........

After sharpening the hooks last nite, most were already razor sharp and components looked like higher quality than in the past. The walleye colored ones appear to be the new ProDawgs which is very cool......as for the Black/orange, I have not had time to compare this batch with the "rubber bucket" batch that is awaiting a serious Mend-It application.
Now, I am kicking my arse for not buying a few dozen of these baits but I was really worried about which 'batch' Cabela's was selling at that time.

I got my Bull Dawg from Cabela’s this weekend. Definitely not the same as the other Bull Dawgs I own. It is a little longer and it is covered in epoxy or something. It looks like it might hold up better, but I'm curious how the epoxy is going to affect how it melts back together. My other Mag weighs a little less than 8 oz, this one weighs just shy of 10 oz. They also have long shank hooks and eyes under the epoxy (instead of just pasted to the outside). I got the walleye. I don't think it's a Pro Dawg, they have a jointed harness. I'm thinking it's the new Bull Dawg, but I'm not 100% on that.

Yep, you are right. Not a ProDawg.....forgot about the jointed harnesses.

Do you think they're the new Bull Dawgs?

They have to be, IMO. I am almost certain these were made after the faulty batch from 07-08.

Yeah. They definitely look new. It was hard to tell what we were getting since the picture Cabela's is the old style. Hopefully it will be better, but its hard to complain about a musky lure that's $8. I wish I would have bought a couple more.

Tested out the Dawgs yesterday and they held up while casting, at least.

What's the sink rate on them? Mine new one weights 2 oz more than my old one.

I have not noticed a difference in the weights but have not paid any attention to it yet either. No idea on how much the sink rate has changed.

Speaking of ProDawgs, my order came in yesterday and I headed out today to give them a go.
-The increase in action was not as evident as I thought it would be. They claim better action because of the jointed harness.
-I was very happy with the color schemes. They looked very lifelike with the print and the eyes.
-I also noticed much less "rollover" when pulling them through the water which was one of my peeves about the original dawgs.
-Lastly, they do hold up well to esox teeth.

Is the print similar to the bass style swimbaits (Luk"E"Strike Bass Magic, Strike King Shadilicious, etc.)?

I'm not sure... I haven't used any of those. It looks / feels like a pattern was printed onto the rubber and then a clearcoat applied over the pattern.
I bet the print would hold up longer than the bait (if I'm lucky!).
