This last weekends walleye and crappie action was very good as the water temps continue to drop and the level continues to rise. Working deep river channels and deep rocks, my 3 friends and I had a forty plus fish day on Saturday. Using Reeves weedless jigs tipped with large fatheads, we found the majority of our 12 keeper walleye and many throwbacks in 13 to 16 feet in the sharp bends of the river channels and also on the deep rocks in 16 to 18 feet of water. A very slow retrieve was the ticket as they were hanging tight to the bottom. Crappie action on Saturday was also decent as we boated 8 nice slabs out of the cribs on medium fatheads and 1/16th ounce jigs. Sundays action was somewhat slower but we still managed 11 nice eyes and several smaller ones during our morning trip in the same areas that we fished on Saturday. Water levels as of Sunday rebounded and we are about 5 inches below full pool, also noticed lots of green chuncks floating indicating we are in turnover.
