Does anyone know what they do at the plant on Business Route 6? Just curious what the smell is.

I assume it is the by-product of converting crude to petroleum products......the distillates are burned off by a big flame tower located right along the river.

It's how I know I am getting close to warren...... that and the "honeycomb" retaining walls...... meadville has dad's dogfood, I don't know which is worse, especially when you come out of the chinese resturant and the wind is blowing the wrong way.....

LOL I'm guessin you guys are getting that rotten egg smell (hydrogen sulfide). Thats a pretty common odor from a lot of the petroleum industry, especially natural gas.

toothy,

Thats hilarious because one of the products we manufacture has that odor as a by-product and a couple of the guys there say the same thing!!

I have noticed some serious hair loss since moving to Warren. Maybe the HSulfide is the culprit.....:)

Most of those compounds that contain sulfur have pretty strong odors even at VERY low concentrations. I'd have to check a Material Safety and Data Sheet to see what the concentrations would have to be for it to pose any sort of risks. I would expect it to be MUCH higher than what we can detect with our sense of smell.

LMAO Red, I figured the hair issue might be caused by drinkin the water from the West Branch of the Susky during the LHU days!!

That and a few other concoctions. ;)
