Yesterday i had a doctor apointment after work, so i packed a few baits and rods getting ready for a brief stop on my way home to wet a line. I decieded to fish a new spot, that i had a breif scouting trip during the summer months.

I get to the spot, talked to another fisherman (i thought no one else would know about this spot, turns out luckly he was there) He had been fishing for little over 4 hours he told me with no luck. As his sentence saying "he had no luck" got finished... BOOM i got drilled (third cast) I worked the fish to the bank and there lay a low 40inch fish.

5 casts later another hit, i pulled up a small pike.

2 bait changes later (20 minutes) Got smacked again! Bring in my secound musky of the day upper 30's

The fellow fisher man was so excited, saying how his day just turned around and he never seen fish come out of this place to big and fast. He was besidehimself. (that made me feel like a king, i am sure most of you know i am far from)

He packed up his stuff, said his goodbyes and went home at dusk, I wanted a few more cast. I tied on my last bait and was working it with no luck, about to retire from a great day, i said tomyself last cast.

I zing the bait on a bomb cast 1/4 way in my rod jerked, i could see my line moving fast to thr left and i layed my hardest hookset and start to back step. The fish drovehimself deep, and it took alot of effort to pull him up enough to see what i thought i felt. A whale tail splashing on the surface tring to go deep again, but my pulling got him to the shore with enought daylight that i could not see much of anything. I could not see my curly spin, it was all the way down to the back of his mouth! Well after a cluster F of me unhookin bymyself knee deep water in the dark flashlight in my mouth fish flopping me bleeding i set her free and she did not waste anytime to get back where she wanted to be. Yes thats all you can see from my curly spin in her mouth!

It was the best photo i could do with what i had, my new friend went home 10minutes to soon. She was in the mid 40 range, and that wrapped up the best single day correction hour (or so) of musky fishing i ever had.

Wow! I'm still waiting for one of those days!
Reminds me of a post from last year around this time regarding "feeding windows".

Good stuff!

Congrats on a good day Andy. Actually not even a day. I envy you guys who have water close by to just stop and cast for a couple hrs or something. You could really capitalize on majors, minors, or weather changes.
