Kinzua is going to be dumping some water beginning today and increasing tomorrow's flow considerably. Walleye guys had better get their hooks sharp.

That Yough fish was just sick looking.

As for Charlie, I have not talked to him since Vets Day.

The walleye fishing on the allegheny is awesome right now.

I agree!! The river has been very good to us as well the past three days. Keep the water coming ACOE.

We had a couple of nice walleye follow up on our musky baits yesterday. Nothing huge but we saw more "other species" than we saw muskies.

What about the rising water induces walleye action?

I would think the water temperature will raise a bit...and some turbidity to color up the water would help, but not just on the walleye action.

It may induce walleye action, but it also tends to move them into select areas. Two guys pulled around us on Sunday and put 3 walleye in the net in about 15 minutes, all nice fish. We did manage one muskie late morning.

With the outflow being drastically trimmed back over the holiday, the discharge forecast shows another big water dump beginning Friday. Once Kinzua opens things up (after Pittsburgh drains out from this recent rain), I am betting we will have high water for several days due to the backed-up water already sitting in Kinzua.

Kinzua is currently 12 feet above winter pool and it is already December.

Upper Allegheny is reporting a crest at 14.5 feet and flood stage is 10 feet.

The dam is about to get more full and fast!!!!

Looking good down here. Been waiting for this amount of rain finally. This pushes the fish into my hot spots and usually puts fish in my freezer.... the muskies go back in though....of course.

The new outflow data shows the dam rising by 4.3 feet per day for the next 3 days.......1322' to 1339' by Saturday!

Keep in mind that summer pool is 1328.

I got word after lunchtime that they were calling for the river to crest at 22.9' in Kittaning. I left work early and rushed home to start moving things because at the level there would be roughly 15" of water in the house. By the time i got home they had dropped the crest to 21' at Kittaning. If this holds true should be in the clear by about 6" from water coming in the house. A little to close for comfort!

All the Eldred people weren't able to come to work today.

Hope everyone lucked out. Flooding is a bad deal, never had to deal with it but I can imagine you'd feel so helpless just watching the water level coming closer and closer.

Sounds like the Allegheny is going to be high for a long time with the dam up that much! I'm sure they will be doing some serious dumping as soon as the rain flooding is done and gone.

There was a high water warning posted in our paper this morning for the weekend........big flows on the way.

14,000 cfs forecasted for Sunday.

It's up to 20,000 cf/s. I've never seen a number that large for Kinzua. Granted I haven't watched this for nearly as long as most of you but still that number is huge. Anyone have pics of the river?

I did not get out this weekend.....cancelled my clients. The highest discharge I have seen before is 22,000 and I think the max outflow is 22,500. The Res was still filling up even with that 19,000 number over the weekend.

It might be on the drop by now but we got close to a foot of snow on my mountain over the weekend. I bet the deer hunters are happy.

Res is dropping by 2ft per day at the current outflow.
