Hit the ice today finally after a busy Christmas season at Gander Mountain. I fished today with Corey, a co-worker of mine who works in the fishing department in his permanent shack. We had plenty of ice (16 inches) and we caught a ton of small perch and I caught one small walleye that went back in. I used Vicious Panfish Ice line in high-vis yellow and four pound test for panfish, and eight pound test for walleyes, and it worked great! No memory and great sensitivity. It was also my first time out with my new Frabill Bro Stick jig rods and they worked awesome!
Best lure for perch was a chartreuse Rat Finkee jig tipped with a small piece of Berkley Power Worm, and we used Northland Buckshot Rattle Spoons for the walleyes tipped with the head of a fathead minnow. We saw eight walleyes up to 26" on Corey's camera and we simply could not convince them to bite except for the small one I caught. We were in eighteen feet of water over deep sand grass.
