Smelt?

I am new to the area and was wondering if there was any good spots around here to smelt fish. I use to go smelt fishing when i was younger down state, but I have no clue where to go around here. If anybody knows any areas could you help me out.

We've been catching smelt off of the Ore Docks in Esky... I dont know if that helps or not... not fast an furious but if you can keep a hook in water they usually bite.

I wish someone would re-program them to run back up the rivers in the spring again!

we were fishing by hunters point 2 weeks ago and kept marking bait fish, finally we marked a group higher up and looked down the hole and there was a school smelt down there. I've been fishing the bay for 15 years and it was the first smelt i have ever seen. i caught one put it on a tip up and had a 19" walleye 45min later

Thanks anything helps i just want to try to get out and try to catch some smelt. Has anyone tried fishing dodge lake or island lake for smelt?
