I am splitting time between the north and south ends - more perch north, walleyes south. I have enjoyed catching larger perch this year. The 14 1/2" from last week was still the longest.
I really enjoy perch to eat, so I spend more time chasing them. Friday had ten keepers and a couple small pike. Sat. had five keepers with a bonus 30" pike that was fat. The pike still chase perch away, and that makes long stretches between bites at times. I set a tip-up baited with a small sucker away from the shanty to try to draw pike toward it and away from the perch if possible. They still roam around however, and a group of perch sure gets their attention fast! I experimented with my "bloodworm" rig Sat. with some takers. That is a 1/32 ounce green jighead dressed with a 1 1/4" piece of soft plastic garden worm imitator in red. A killer at times!
